Karakuş Tumulus
A monumental burial mound for the women of the Commagene royal family.

The Karakuş Tumulus was built for Isias, mother of King Mithridates II, and also holds the graves of his sisters Laodice and Antiochis and his niece Aka, which is why it is also known as the 'Women's Cemetery'. Of the original nine columns around the 110-metre-wide mound, four still stand, one of them topped by an eagle figure. The eagle-topped column collapsed in the 2023 earthquakes.
