Tefenni is a district in the southwest of Burdur province, at an average elevation of 1,163 m. Known in Byzantine times as İstefani, the settlement moved to its present site after an 1882 earthquake and took the name Tefenni in 1886. It is known for apple growing and cold storage facilities.
