Koza Han was built in 1491 for Bayezid II, to provide income for his mosque and madrasa in Istanbul, on a site between the Gazi Orhan Mosque and the Grand Mosque. The two-storey stone caravanserai has arcades covered by 40 domes, and its courtyard holds a small domed mescit with a fountain. Named after the silk cocoon trade long carried out here, the han today houses fabric and souvenir shops, a café and a tea garden.
