Erzurum Citadel is one of the city's oldest structures, repaired and used in different periods. The tower inside the citadel, originally built as a minaret in the 12th century, was converted into the Clock Tower (Tepsi Minare) in the 19th century after its upper section collapsed and a clock was installed.
