Bulancak is a coastal district west of Giresun; known as Akköy in Ottoman times, it became a municipality in 1887 and a district in 1934. Its 261-metre pier, once among the longest on the Black Sea, Bektaş Plateau, a plateau-tourism destination, and the Bulancak Art Theatre are its highlights.
