Pendik, İstanbul's largest district on the Asian side, has a 9-kilometre Marmara Sea coastline. Known in antiquity as Pantikapeon, the area has yielded Neolithic finds now displayed in the İstanbul Archaeology Museum; Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Pendik Shipyard, established in 1982, are its major transport and industrial facilities.
