Kadifekale was built in the 3rd century BC by Lysimachus, one of Alexander the Great's generals, at 186 metres above sea level. Although its east and south walls have collapsed, the north and east walls and five towers still stand, along with a vaulted Byzantine-era cistern and the remains of a small mosque inside.
