Menderes lies south of İzmir and includes part of Adnan Menderes Airport within its boundaries. The remains of the ancient cities of Klaros, Kolophon and Notion lie within the district. It is also known for the Tahtalı Dam, which supplies İzmir's drinking water, its 40 km of coastline with beaches, and the Gümüldür mandarin orange.
