Küre, in a valley between two mountains, 30 km from İnebolu, takes its name from copper mines that have been worked since the 9th century BC. The Hoca Akşemseddin Mosque, dating from the 1400s, and the Valla and Çatak canyons in the Küre Mountains are the district's highlights; an annual Küre Carpet Festival is held there.
