Körfez

Körfez, on the shore of the Gulf of İzmit in Kocaeli province, is an industrial district bordered by Gebze and Dilovası to the west and Derince to the east; it was formerly called Yarımca and became a district in 1987. Major petrochemical plants such as TÜPRAŞ, PETKİM and İGSAŞ are located here; Hereke Castle and the 1898 Kaiser Wilhelm II Pavilion are among its historic buildings.
