The Great Mosque of Manisa was built in 1366 by the architect Emet Bin Osman, on the order of the Saruhan bey Muzafferüddin İshak Bey. Built of stone and brick, its interior decoration reuses columns and capitals taken from earlier buildings. A madrasa was added beside it in 1378.
