Taraklı's historic houses, preserving Ottoman village architecture from a district first taken by Osman Bey.

One of the first settlements taken by Osman Bey in 1289-1291, Taraklı is known for its two- and three-storey Ottoman-period houses with wooden ornamentation; most are 150 to 300 years old, and more than eighty are protected. The district joined the Cittaslow "slow city" network in 2011 and received an award from the UN World Tourism Organization in 2021.
