The exact construction date of Burma Mosque, in Uşak's Küme neighbourhood east of the Ulu Mosque, is not known; based on an inscription reported by the 17th-century traveller Evliya Çelebi, it has been suggested the building dates to the Islamic year 980 (AD 1572-73), while some researchers give 1570. The mosque takes its name from the spiral (burma) motif on its minaret.
