According to the inscription on its door, the Great Mosque of Uşak was built in 1419 by Mehmet bin Hasan bin Kavşit, under the Germiyan bey Yakup Bey. The 17th-century traveller Evliya Çelebi wrote that the mosque had a stone dome and stone minaret, though its dome was covered with wooden boarding.
