Çarpanak Island lies in the north-east of Lake Van, within the Tuşba district. On its northern side stand the remains of a monastery complex dated to the 9th-11th centuries, with a church attributed to St. Jean alongside a jamatun and chapel ruins. In spring the island is covered with almond blossom.
