Altınova lies east of Yalova, at the narrowest point of the Gulf of İzmit. The Hersek Delta, formed by the Yalakdere stream, is the district's notable natural area, and the Yalova-side approach to the Osmangazi Bridge is within its borders. Greenhouse flower growing is one of the district's main economic activities.
