Ulucanlar Prison was established in 1925 and closed in 2006 when it was relocated to Sincan Prison; it was restored by Altındağ Municipality and opened as a museum in 2011. Its wards and courtyards display personal belongings, photographs and information about journalists, writers, poets and politicians held there for their views.
